Do we hear wedding bells for Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas? The Telegraph can reveal that Miss Bonas has eventually won over her fears of marrying into the royal family and a wedding is already "in the cards" for one of the world's most eligible bachelors.
"Cressie is going to marry Harry," a friend revealed to Telegraph.
Their wedding is "likely to take place next year." Prince Harry has made it known already that he longs to settle down. In his interview with Katie Couric in last year's ABC special "The Jubilee Queen," the prince said: "I've longed for kids since I was very, very young. I'm just waiting to find the right person." London, June 20 - King Edward VII may give his consent should his nephew Prince Arthur seek the hands of Lady Marjorie Manners for marriage. The New York Times reported that "a fresh basis has been given for the predictions that an engagement between Lady Marjorie Manners and Prince Arthur of Connaught would shortly be announced." Lady Majorie was sitting beside Princess Patricia in Ascot last week.
Lady Marjorie's presence at the event was taken as a nod of the King's approval and consent to her marriage to the Prince. The newspaper predicted that the match would be "a happy ending."
Lady Marjorie's parents are the Duke and Duchess of Rutland, better known as the former Lord and Lady Granby. After all, Lady Marjorie is a close pal of Princess Patricia's and that of her elder sister, Princess Margaret.
The match, called a "royal romance of affection and constancy," has the approval of the king. In fact, a royal insider revealed that York House in St. James' Palace, "would be assigned to the Prince and his bride."
Prince Arthur, the only son and heir of the Duke of Connaught, is one of the most popular members of the Royal Family. He is widely hailed for his "great tact and charm of manner," making his a well-known at home and abroad. He has recently represented his uncle in a variety of ceremonial occasions at foreign courts.

Celebrating Prince and Princess Michael of Kent’s 35th Wedding Anniversary
![]() |
Prince and Princess Michael of Kent |
While the rest of the British Royal Family and the entire nation are festively rejoicing the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent have their own reason to call 2013 a milestone in their lives--they are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary. In a family plagued by divorce and scandals, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent's marriage is something of a miracle. Given their high profile lifestyle, busy schedule and constant separation from one another due to commitments, not to mention the many tales of alleged extra-marital affairs, it is still refreshing to learn that the Prince, now 71, and the Princess, 68, still find their marriage strong and sturdy. Scandal and intrigue is nothing new to the Kents.
After all, their marriage almost rocked the Royal Family, to the magnitude that could have matched the Edward-Wallis Affair, or the Margaret-Townsend fling, had Prince Michael been a closer heir to the Throne. But there's no need for that. While the Prince lost his rights to inherit the throne because he married the divorced, former Baroness Marie Christine von Reibnitz, the woman he truly loves, it was quick and easy for his cousin Queen Elizabeth II, to grant royal dispensation to the marriage. And so they wed in Vienna.
Prince Michael of Kent was born July 4, 1942. He is the younger son and third child of Prince George, Duke of Kent, fourth son and fifth child of King George V and Queen Mary, and of Princess Marina, youngest daughter and child of Prince Nicholas of Greece and Grand Duchess Helen of Russia. He was only seven months old when his father died of plane crash in Scotland. His elder brother, Prince Edward, assumed his father’s title as Duke of Kent. As the younger son, Prince Michael was not expected to carry out official duties, and so, he enjoyed relative obscurity as a member of the Royal Family. His marriage in 1978 to Marie-Christine Troubridge (born Baroness von Reibnitz) changed all that.
Baroness Marie-Christine von Reibnitz was born January 15, 1945. His father was Baron Gunther von Reibnitz, a German, while her mother was Countess Marianne Szapary, a Hungarian noblewoman. The future Princess Michael was married to English banker Thomas Troubridge in 1971, but their marriage ended up in separation in two years later. They were finally divorced in 1976.
Shortly afterwards, she met Prince Michael and the two fell in love with each another. Royal biographer Sarah Bradford, in Elizabeth: A Biography of Her Majesty The Queen (2002), meanwhile, mentioned that the Queen was far from overjoyed of her cousin’s marital prospects. Instead, “she would have preferred a less exotic bride.”
She was persuaded into it by Lord Mountbatten, the royal matchmaker, who felt paternal towards Michael and was charmed by Marie-Christine. Elizabeth had little room to act; rejection of a bride of a minor member of the family on the grounds that she was divorced and of the wrong religion would understandably have led to a good deal of criticism, and so, after the approval of the Privy Council, she gave her formal agreement. The wedding took place in Vienna in 1978, the birthplace of the bride’s mother. The Royal Marriages Act of 1772 barred members of the Royal Family from getting married on civil ceremonies in England.
At the last moment, the Pope, who had granted an annulment of Marie-Christine’s first marriage, refused a dispensation for a church wedding, almost certainly because the children of the first marriage were to be brought up as Protestants in order to preserve their rights of succession to the Throne.
The Vatican eventually relented and the couple were given formal blessings in July 1983 in a ceremony at Westminster Cathedral. Their marriage was gifted by two children, Lord Frederick, born 1979, and Lady Gabriella, born 1983. The Queen gave them a grace-and-favor apartment at Kensington Palace, while they maintained their country home at Nether Lypiatt, a 17th century mansion in Gloucestershire.
As junior male representative of the Kent family, Prince Michael is not required to carry out official engagements. The couple does not also receive any public funds and their activities are not recorded at the Court Circular. But there were certain occasions when they carried out official functions on behalf of the Crown. In 1981, the couple represented the Queen at the independence celebrations for Belize and in 1982, Princess Michael represented Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother on certain engagements.
Prince and Princess Michael remain actively involved in various interests. Prince Michael is running his own consultancy firm, Cantium Services, while Princess Michael busies herself in writing books and doing lecture works, not to mention that they continue attending state and royal events. On top of that, they do also have their own charities to support and causes to espouse, making them as busy as other working members of the Royal Family.
The couple’s marriage is never far from perfect. There were times when their marital bliss was rocked by scandals and intrigued of infidelity, but at the end of the day, couple remains together and through the years their marriage continues to be a royal match to last a lifetime.

Celebrating Prince Albert and Princess Charlene’s Wedding
![]() |
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene after their wedding. Image: Reuters |
The royal wedding of Prince Albert II of Monaco and Charlene Wittstock was a magical day that evoked some poignant memories in Monaco. As the breathtaking blonde bride stood at the ornate altar in the Palais Princier, royal observers couldn’t help thinking back to the principality’s last wedding of a reigning sovereign in April 1956, when the beautiful actress Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier III and became a Princess.
The glamorous screen legend would surely have been overjoyed to see her son, Prince Albert, wed as elegant and poised a young woman as South African Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock. And it would have moved the late royal couple to see their own nuptials reenacted decades later, bringing new love to the palace, and ushering in a new era for the Grimaldi dynasty.
But in the absence of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier, Monegasque celebrated for them, gathering to watch the ceremony on giant TV’s throughout Monaco and erupting in cheers as Albert and Charlene exchanged vows in a lavish, multimillion-dollar spectacle that will go down in the Mediterranean enclave’s history.

On July 2, 2011—a day after the couple of five years were legally married in a civil ceremony at the Prince’s Palace—Charlene, 33, was ready to don her wedding dress for the 90-minute Roman Catholic ceremony. At 5 pm, she entered the palace in an off white silk duchesse satin Giorgio Armani Prive gown, its delicate floral pattern embroidered with 90,000 pearl drops, Swarowski crystals and gems. The statuesque beauty held a bouquet of freesias, orchids and lilies of the valley.
Followed by seven bridesmaids—all wearing the nation’s traditional flower girl costume—Charlene made her way down the aisle with her father, Michael, approaching the double spiral staircase in the 17th century Courtyard of Honour.
The well-heeled congregation of 850 royals, dignitaries and celebrities leaped to their feet clapping, and Charlene’s husband-to-be, 53, looking dashing in a white summer uniform of the Palace Guards, elicited chuckles from the crowd as he peeked backwards to steal a glimpse of his bride. Sir Paul McCartney’s “Standing Stone,” sung by opera singers Lisa Larson and Kenneth Tarver, filled the space.
Charlene joined her prince at the foot of the spectacular staircase, carved from a single block of Carrara marble, and the pair took their places on the scarlet damask stools in front of the altar, which had been consecrated for the occasion. As the couple’s proud families looked on – including Albert’s sisters, Princesses Caroline and Stephanie – the prince’s nieces Pauline Ducruet and Charlotte Casiraghi delivered readings.
By the time the Archbishop of Monaco, His grace Bernard Barsi, made his stirring address, the emotion in the room was palpable. The couple exchanged vows – each affirming their lifelong commitment with a heartfelt “Oui” – and they were pronounced husband and wife. After the bride and groom exchanged 18-karat white gold platinum Cartier rings, a traditional South African marriage song was performed and communion was taken. Albert the lifted his new wife’s veil and kiss her.
Amid much applause, the delighted groom punched the air in celebration, his look expressing what he would later say to his bride in his wedding speech: “Thank you for allowing me to share my life with you.” Andrea Bocelli then sang “Ave Maria,” and the newly-weds signed the marriage register and left the palace arm in arm, while the elated crowds showered them with white rose petals.
Custom dictates that the bride place her bouquet at the feet of the principality’s patron saint, and as she did so as at the picturesque Church of Sainte-Devote, joyful tears streamed down her face. Charlene had her prince, and Monaco had its new princess.

How does it feel to be engaged?
Princess Madeleine: We are both extremely happy and delighted. It is a very special day for us.
When and how did Christopher propose?
Princess Madeleine: Chris proposed to me at the beginning of October. It was a very romantic and intimate proposal, but more details about the proposal we want to keep to ourselves.
Christopher, were you nervous? Had you planned this for a long time?
I had been thinking about proposing for a while, but I wanted to wait until the right moment. But I have been sure all along that Madeleine was the one I wanted to marry.
Where did you meet the first time?
Princess Madeleine: We met through mutual friends. For me it started with a great friendship. We share the same humor and we have a lot of fun together. Christopher opened up my heart, he is my soul mate.
Christopher, when did you know Princess Madeleine was the right one?
From the very outset, I immediately felt something special with Madeleine.
What was your first impression of Christopher?
Princess Madeleine: I appreciate Chris for his warmth and his humour. He has a very big heart and he manages to make everyone in his presence feel good. Christopher is a very thoughtful and generous person.
Christopher, have you asked the King´s permission for Princess Madeleine's hand?
Yes, I met with The King and I asked His Majesty´s permission to marry Princess Madeleine.
What was the King´s response?
Christopher O'Neill: The King and The Queen were both happy, and touched as well, I think.
Christopher, do you know any Swedish?
I can say some Swedish phrases and am in the process of taking lessons so that I may speak fluently in due course.
Princess Madeleine, how do you feel about Christopher´s family?
I appreciate Christopher´s family very much. They have always been very nice to me and welcomed me with open arms. Christopher has a lovely family!
Christopher, how do you feel about Princess Madeleine´s family?
I know the Swedish royal family very well. They have been extremely welcoming to me and I felt part of the family right from the very beginning. Madeleine´s family is very warm and we have a very good time when we all see each other.
Talking about family, will you start planning for a family right away?
Princess Madeleine: Of course we look forward to getting married and someday building our own family.
Where will you live?
Princess Madeleine: For the time being we will continue to live in New York due to both of our current obligations. However, we will not exclude the possibility of moving to Sweden in due course.
Christopher, what do you think about Sweden?
Sweden is fantastic. It is such a beautiful country with very friendly people. I have mostly just been to Stockholm and Öland but I hope I will have the opportunity to visit Sweden a little more often now.
Lastly and most importantly, when is the big day?
Princess Madeleine: We will have to get back to you regarding that. The wedding will take place in Sweden sometime during the summer of 2013.

Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stephanie during their church wedding |
After the civil ceremony and the gala dinner that welcomed some of the world’s most glittering royalties, the church ceremony today finally highlighted the two-day festivities of the wedding of Grand Duke Guillaume and the former Countess Stephanie de Lannoy, at the Cathedral of our Lady of Luxembourg.
Crowds began erupting in cheers after Grand Duke Guillaume, 30, arrived with his mother, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. Meanwhile, the new Grand Duchess, 28, was given away by her brother Count Jehan de Lannoy. She looked regal and every inch a royal bride in her Elie Saab wedding dress, with its four-meter train adding the glass and grandeur that rivaled the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The wedding dress highlights three-quarter length sleeves and a silk tulle veil. Silver floral motif adorned it. She wore her own family’s tiara. The attendants, meanwhile, wore the traditional blue and orange Nassau colors. The ceremony was conducted in English and French and a minute of silence was observed in honor of the Grand Duchess’ late mother, Countess Alix de Lannoy, who passed away last August.
