Daughter for Duke and DUchess of Kent

Dec 26, 1936 The Glasgow Herald reports that the Duchess of Kent had given birth to a daughter at her home, 8 Belgrave Square, London, yesterday morning.

The following bulletin was issued from No. 3 Belgrave Square:

Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Kent was safely, delivered of a daughter at 11.20 o'clock this morning.
Her Royal Highness and the infant Princess are doing excellently.
(Signed)
W. GILLIATT, M.D., F.C.O.G
A. E. GOW, M.D., F.R.C.P.
H.A. RICHARDS, D.A., M.R.C.S.

This is the first birth of a Prince or Princess in the British family to occur on Christmas Day for many years. Christmas Day is the birthday of the Duchess of Gloucester.

The Home Secretaru (Sir John Simon), who was at Walton Heath, was summoned to No. 3 Belgrave Square shortly before 10 o'clock yesterday morning. Constitutionally, the Home Secretary must be present at a royal birth.

Prince and Princess Nicholas of Greece, the Duchess of Kent's father and mother, were present. The princess had spent the night with her daughter after she and Prince Nicholas had dined with the Duke and Duchess.

The Palm Beach Daily News reports that after the little princess was safely delivered, the duke of kent supervised the dispatch of his Christmas presents to relatives and relatives and friends, a task which had been delayed by the impending addition to his family.

England welcomes Princess Marina

Prince George Duke of Kent welcomes his fiancee Princess
Marina of Greece and Denmark
London, Nov. 21, 1934 (AP) - Princess Marina-chic and lovely in fur coat, beige ensemble and lat little sailor hat came to London yesterday in her trousseau shopping done to be welcomed by the Royal family.

Capacity crowds braved wet, foggy weather, the thickest England has had this season, to cheer the future Duchess of Kent, both at the railway station and at Buckingham Palace.

A salvo of lusty cheers greeted Marina as she arrived, and uninterrupted applause that followed for half an hour finally lef Marina and her fiance, the Duke of Kent to appear on the balcony of an upper floord for an ovation lasting three minutes.

As the King and Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of York greeted Princess Marina, the Duke of Kent fidgetted nervously, fingering his silk hat.
