Prince Albert attends annual Red Cross Ball


July 31 - Prince Albert II of Monaco, his fiancée Charlene Wittstock, and her younger sister Prince Stephanie attended the 62nd Red Cross Ball last July 30 (see left).

The annual Red Cross Ball is considered as the biggest social event in Monaco. It is held every year to raise money for the Monagasque Red Cross Foundation. It is renowned for its star-studded guests that includes international celebrities, high-profile philanthropists, jet-setters, and, of course, Monaco’s princely family.

King Abdullah ends Mid-East tour

The Saudi king meets the king of Jordan during the last leg of his Mid-East visit.
July 31 - Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud officially ended his brief but whirlwind visit to four neighboring countries: Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan. The King’s tour aimed of promising peace in the Middle East amidst the rising tensions in Lebanon.

South Africa Abolishes Six Traditional Monarchies

July 30 - South African President Jacob Zuma declared the abolition of six of the 13 kingdoms of South upon the death of their rulers. 

The announcement was made last July 29, citing that those kingdoms were established during apartheid in a bid of the white-led government to gain support from the petty sovereigns.

These kingdoms are: the Batlokwa ba Mota,  Bakwena baMopeli, AmaRharhabe. Amampondo ase-Nyandeni, and Ndzundza Mabhoko. Meanwhile, the king of AbaThembu has died recently, thus, the monarchy is expected to end shortly.

Israel premier meets King Abdullah

 Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu paid a visit to Amman Tuesday, when he met with Jordan’s King Abdullah II to discuss the Mideast Peace Process. Netanyahu was trying to get the King's support and asked him to persuade the Palestinians to resume peace talks.

Danish Royal Family Gathers for a photo shoot

Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik and other members of the Danish Royal Family their two sons and grandchildren as well as the queen's sister, Princess Benedikte and her family gathered at the Grasten Castle for an official family portrait last Wednesday, July 28.

Queen Elizabeth II launches Royal Family's Flickr acount

After YouTube and Twitter, Queen Elizabeth II officially launched the British Royal Family’s Flickr photo stream last Monday.

The Royal Family’s photo stream gave the public the access to more than 600 historic and current photos dating back from Queen Victoria’s reign and included Her Majesties childhood, Princess Diana’s weddings, and other events in the royal family.

The most recent photos covered the royal family’s day-to-day public appearances and official functions, from the queen’s recent visit to Canada and New York her garden party last week.

Here are some of the latest pictures of the British Royal Family while in action.
