National Pancake Day

Today is National Pancake Day at Ihop. You get free pancakes and they ask you to make a donation to Children's Miracle Network. Clint's mom has been planning on taking us out for those free pancakes since the commercials started about a month ago.

Lily loves pancakes and did pretty well in the restaurant. When she was done eating, she decided she'd color wherever she darn well pleased.

Afterwards we went to the mall because my MIL had a store credit at Gymboree to spend. We got the girls cute matching shirts that say 'C is for Cat' and a tutu for Brinley to wear to Lily's birthday party. And of course Lily got to play in the play area.

After naptime, I was feeling camera happy and took about 50 pictures of my favorite little subjects. I thought it would be fun to try and recreate some pictures of Lily with Brinley since I have busted out Lily's old clothes. Here are the two comparison shots I ended up with:

Brinley took a second cat nap, so I let Lily play with her paints. Lily LOVES to paint, but it ALWAYS requires a bath immediately following, so I have to time it when I can have at least 15-20 minutes of Brinley either napping or being entertained. Here are some pictures of Lily hard at work:

 

I was trying to teach Lily to sponge paint, but she wasmore interested in painting her hands or sticking her fingers directly in the paint jars. (Hence the perpetual need for a bath!)

Lily was being sweet to Brinley this afternoon, and I got a few pictures of the sister play time.

 

Lily showed Brinley her new abacus. (Lily has no idea that its for counting, she just loves playing with it).

Brinley enjoys Sophie as much as Lily did (I enjoy getting a second use out of the most over priced teether on the planet!)

 National pancake day ended up being a lot of fun, maybe I should take off work next year and do exactly the same things we did today! Getting sad that I'm down to my last 2.5 weeks of maternity leave. I am so thankful for the time at home I have with my baby girls.
