One of my favorite things about having girls is dressing them up and doing their hair (well Lilys hair..still crossing my fingers that Baldy gets hair sometime this year!) I am really impressed with lily for her willingness to sit still long enough to let me French braid her hair. She fights me pretty hard on getting her nails clipped, but she doesn't mind me playing with her hair. I think braids look so cute on her!
On an unrelated note, I have to share how excited I am about my new favorite cleaning product. (Side note- I just typed up a very lengthy explanation of this, went to blogger on my phone to add pictures as I had moved on to a new topic, and it somehow deleted everything I wrote! Grr.) Wanted to share this in case one of my few friends who read this blog have a use for one of these.
Anyway, last week I hosted a Book Club at my house, and my friend Betsy and I were squeezing in as much girl talk as we could at the end of the night. Book club starts at 7:30, but a few ladies hung out until about 11. The conversation turned to our cleaning regimens (I promise we had more exciting girl talk earlier in the night, after all, it was 50 Shades of Grey Trilogy week!) and I complained that I have a rust/hard water stain on the guest toilet that I can not get rid of to save my life. Betsy said I needed a pumice cleaning stone and that should get rid of it with out any chemicals or cleaning solution needed. I was more excited than I'd like to admit about this information. Every time I have friends over, I always scour that damn toilet and it still never looks 100% clean. I'm always embarrassed that someone would notice (Which is a little silly because that would probably involve someone getting on the floor and sticking their face in the toilet bowl because of where the stain was...but still.) I was a little OCD about it. And have bought many cleaning products that did nothing. Two days after book club, I was at Bed Bath and Beyond returning something and I looked down at the counter and saw a Pumice cleaning stone and it was only $3.99! And really it was free and BB&B gave me another $6 in cash for me return (talk about a good return policy!). So that was fortuitous...I try to limit the amount of errands I take the girls on during the day so that saved me a trip to Lowes to find a cleaning stone. To make an unnecessarily long story short, IT WORKED! In about 5 minutes the toilet bowl was completely clean! I can't remember when that rust stain first appeared, but I think I've been scrubbing at it for over a year. So THANK YOU, Betsy!
(This isnt the one they had at Bed Bath, but this is similar.)
So, what else is on my mind besides french braids and toilet bowl cleaners? Hmm. The highlight of my day was picking up Lily's 2 year old and Brinley's 4.5 month old pictures from the mall. Still no great pictures of both my girls together, but these three poses I liked:
We got 7 different poses for $25, so I can't complain. The session definitely went better than the Halloween pictures we attempted when Brinley was only a month old. I'm excited for her to start sitting up on her own soon (for many reasons), but one of them being so that pictures are easier. 6 months was such a fun baby age for Lily, I'm excited for what's around the corner for my Brinley girl.
Other random Thursday thoughts include my TV schedule. This has been a good TV week for me..3 hours of the Bachelor, 2 hours of Smash, 3 hours of American Idol, new Nashville, new Millionaire Matchmaker, and a new Grey's I havent gotten to yet. I wasnt too thrilled with the new story lines on Smash, but I'm not giving up yet.
The last thing on my mind is Clint's travel schedule. He has been traveling so much lately, and I really don't enjoy the weeks he's gone. Next week includes Lily's 2nd birthday and Valentine's Day, yet somehow he picked that week to plan a trip to Miami. I guess he did that to avoid traveling 2 weeks in a row since he's been gone every other week for the last 6 weeks. His boss suggested he travel Sunday to Thursday so that he could be back on Valentine's Day night. Good in theory, excpet that Sunday is our daughter's second birthday and he is flying out at noon. I'm curious if my mom friends would rather their husbands miss their child's birthday or Valentine's Day. I feel like Valentine's Day can be celebrated any day, but birthdays are more special on the day of. We usually go out to dinner on another night anyway to avoid the long wait times at restaurants. So that's my rant.
Luckily after next week Clint will be home for a few weeks. Getting both girls fed and dressed and to daycare in the mornings is going to be difficult by myself when I go back to work and Clint is out of town. You can go ahead and count on me looking pretty rough those days as I'm quite sure there wont be time for straight irons, accessorizing, and make-up. Just hoping I won't be late to work, especially since the new daycare is not on my way to work. I was spoiled with our last daycare being less than a mile from my work. So...we'll see!
Hope everyone has a great Friday! I'm looking forward to seeing my mama friends, family members and hopefully Alana at Lily's party Saturday. Jenn, Emily, and Christain (and I think Ed) will be down from Kennesaw, GA and I CANT WAIT to see them!
And now for some random pictures of my little ladies to end this post:
Optimist Park:
Can you tell why I usually stick a bow on this bald head? Yikes, its even more severely bald in natural light!
This is why I can't leave Brinley unattended on the floor..she either covers her face with a blanket or rolls onto the laminate or under furniture...SMH.
Sister attack!
