Crown Prince lays wreath on the tomb of King Alexander and Queen Draga


Crown Prince Alexander II laid a wreath on the tomb of the late King Alexander and Queen Draga Obrenovic. He was accompanied by Crown Princess Katherine.

King Alexander and Queen Draga Obrenovic were assassinated in a coup d’etat on this date 110 years ago. The last King of the Obrenovic Dynasty was buried with his wife in the Crypt of St. Mark's Church in Belgrade.

Prince Peter Karadjordjevic, the great grandfather of Crown Prince Alexander II, was appointed King of Serbia by a Constitutional Assembly of the Serbian Parliament and Senate two weeks later. He was crowned King of Serbia September 21, 1904 in St. Michael's Cathedral Church in Belgrade. The reign of King Peter I the Liberator was a period of great prosperity and stability for Serbia.

Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia launches Office for Reduction of Poverty


June 11 - Crown Princess Katherine officially opened the Office for reduction of poverty in Pecinci. Also present were Sava Cojcic, President of Pecinci Municipality, deputy President Milan Stepanovic, President of the Municipality Assembly Nikola Radosavljevic, Director of social work center Biljana Jovicic, representatives of Associations of Women on the territory of Pecinci.

After the ceremony, the princess visited Day care Center for children with disabilities in Subotiste and delivered toys to beneficiaries.

Crown Prince Alexander awards Serbia’s top 500 students


June 11 - Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine hosted the traditional annual awarding ceremony for Serbia’s 500 best scholars from all the secondary schools in Serbia. 

The event was held at the White Palace.

In his speech, Crown Prince Alexander thanked Eurobank for their support to this event. He also welcomed students, their parents and professors.

The royal couple also expressed their sincere gratitude to all volunteers who participated in organization of this event, as well as the sponsors who made the dreams of the students come true.
