Queen Elizabeth II signed a Letters Patent declaring that
future royal daughter will be a princess

Queen Elizabeth II, through a Letters Patent, has declared that a daughter born to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would be styled Her Royal Highness and bear the title Princess.

This is to upturn the Letters Patent issued by Her Majesty’s grand father, King George V, which limits the use of Royal Highness only to the eldest sonof the eldest son of the Prince of Wales. The Queen had issued the Letters Patent to the House of Lords last Dec. 31, although it was only made public yesterday, reports The Daily Mail.

It reads:

“The Queen has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 31 December 2012 to declare that all the children of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales should have and enjoy the style,  title and attribute of Royal Highness with the titular dignity of Prince or Princess prefixed to their Christian names or with such other titles of honour.”
